I wrote in the past about the light he is popular for, as he is or should be also for the dark. He should be popular for the shadow, for the contrast that he is creating, for the 3D space impression that he is creating, for the surroundings in the spot or in the dark or in the shadow, and never the less for what is his talent and also my argument for the last paint to be attributed to him and having as the point of decision, the details, the details from the bottom of the paint, and not the pale self-portrait in the The Spectacles-pedlar (Sight). More, the combination of the two different styles of painting (glossy and fadded) in the same paint is another unique aspect of Rembrandt’s work.
The detail was in the details!
I find his work called “Jeremiah Lamenting the Destruction of Jerusalem” from the feature photo, as the work that is perfectly representing the state of the mind and of the soul of the present intellectual class who after all the debates and the bitter lack of the results of the street protests, are colapsing in an inner lamentation regarding the world leaders and of their ruling gangs destroying the world.
